  1. FAQs
  • Do we need to be a green, sustainable business to take part?

You don't need to have a sustainability policy or be monitoring your carbon footprint but you do need to be on a journey. All we ask is that you are open to considering how a low-carbon economy will affect your business and perhaps this will be the catalyst to help you start preparing for what's around the corner.

  • We already have students on work experience, will this be different?

The Green Talent programme can enhance current work placements and provide a consistency of approach, resulting in a better experience for the business and the young person. We have developed an insert for a young person's work experience logbook which contains a challenge – to find out about how their host business manages performance against the Triple Bottom Line (People, Planet and Profit). This enables young people to see the realities of the challenges and opportunities facing businesses as we move towards a low-carbon economy.

  • Will everyone be able to see what I'm searching for?

Green Talent is all about telling people what you're looking for so all posts are made public so we can all help each other.

  • How much information do I need to put on my posts?

We'll show posts with just one word on them but it's a good idea to try to add as much information as possible. That way other people will have a better idea of what you're looking for and whether they can help you help you out. We prioritise results on relevancy but we do give greater importance to registered user's posts with more information on them.

  • How can I enter more information on my posts?

There are two buttons on the posts under the 'find me' heading, by clicking on the 'www' button you can add websites of interest, these can be either about you or what you're looking for. Simply copy and paste the URL from your facebook profile for example and hit save, the page will appear as a link for other users to access so they can find out more about you.

  • Will I be spammed if I leave an email on the site?

We do everything we can to prevent spammers accessing the information shown on our site but we do recommend taking care when leaving any personal contact information anywhere on the web. We think it's useful to have a second email address for use on social and public websites.

  • How can I get my posts listed higher on the search results?

We rank results on relevance but we do take into account the amount of user information posts have, if the user is registered and the level of comments they receive.

  • Are my settings made public?

Your setting information is stored privately on the site. Your image will appear automatically on any posts that you add while being signed in. You have total control over when and what other settings information you publish when adding to your posts.

  • Can I delete my posts?

You can delete your posts if you are a registered user.

  • Can I delete my comments?

You can delete your comments if you are a registered user, if you comment anonymously then we can't delete them so please bear this in mind when using the site.

  • What are the benefits of signing in?

If you sign in you can track and access all the posts and conversations that you've participated in on the site. We will alert you when people comment on your posts or reply to your comments, you'll also be able to delete posts that are no longer relevant when you've found what you're looking for.

Signing in also saves you a lot of time, you'll be able to upload a profile picture and save multiple URL's, contact and sharing details.

These are just the first of a whole list of developments we've got in the pipeline for our registered users but any ideas you'd like us to consider please mail us on info@greentalent.org
